Hello Classmate of Louisiana HS Class of 1963,

(Personal Note from Charley Blackmore, Reunion Organizer)

“You might not know me or maybe you don’t remember me.  I attended elementary school in Louisiana, Missouri from 1952

through 1955.  I went to Field school for the 1st, 2nd & 3rd grades (my teachers were; Gabriel, Stevens and Reid) and I was at

the new Meriwether school in Mrs. Novell’s class for the 4th grade.  I became friends with Randy DeVerger, who was my

neighbor on Margaret Drive.  Randy and I were in Cub Scouts with Bill Leverington, Jerry Robinson and Bill Shepard  After

making my first road trip, as soon as I got my driver’s license, to Louisiana and getting together with DeVerger and Leverington,

I have always kept in touch every few years when I was through Louisiana.  I have always managed to see Randy DeVerger,

Bill Shepard, Bill Leverington, Karl Dewey or their parents when I was in Louisiana.  I have always felt a closeness to Louisiana

and my friends from grade school.  I moved to Columbia, Missouri in July of 1955.  Back in the early ‘90s, I talked to Bill Sheppard

and Karl Dewey and asked them to let me know when they had their next reunion.  I told them I would be happy to come and DJ

free, just so I could attend the reunion.  After putting together our sixth reunion, the 40th for the Hickman High School Class of

1963, my class here in Columbia, Missouri, the home of the Kewpies, I decided to find out when your class was having their

40th reunion.  I checked classmates.com on the web and found Gerry Green and Jerry Robinson.  Gerry Green lived in the other side

of the duplex I lived in on Georgia Street in 1952, when we first moved to Louisiana.  Gerry Green and Jerry Robinson got back in

touch with me and let me know they remembered me and said there was no 40th reunion.  That’s when this all began.  I contacted

Randy DeVerger, Karl Dewey and Bill Shepard and when I found out how eager they were to not put a reunion together, I decided

I should do it, if you were going to have one, just kidding they have been a big help to me.  Well, as they say, the rest of the story

is history, as the 40th Reunion of the Louisiana High School is on October 18, 2003.

I have talked to more of your classmates since June than you have in the last 25 years!  It has been great fun and I hope that I will

be seeing you in October.  Most everyone sounded excited on the phone about the reunion!  I am so disappointed that I have

heard from so few classmates by now.

Several classmates have died since the 25th Reunion in 1978.  By the time we have another reunion, there will probably be several

more classmates gone.  I ask that you take a little time and consider joining us in October.  Having put six reunions together for my

class in Columbia, I have acquired some wonderful friendships with people I never gave the time of day in high school and some who

I didn’t even know or certainly didn’t know me.  A time of getting reacquainted with classmates; who we shared most of our thoughts

and sometimes our secrets with during childhood, puberty and adolescence, can prove to be a very special time.  I have taken the time

to get a reunion together for each and everyone of you and hope that you will take this opportunity to come see old friends and meet

some new ones.”

The 40th Reunion of the Louisiana High School Class of 1963 will be the third weekend of October, the same weekend as the Country
