Marilyn Kemper Sunderland - 2003-09-12
After graduating from Hickman High School, I attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and received a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education.  While in college, I met Darrel Ashby, who was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, for basic training in the Army.  We were married in 1967.  We had our daughter Michelle in 1969, while at Fort Leonard Wood.  After leaving the Army, we moved to Utah in 1972, where our son Chadd was born.  We fell in love with Utah.  The scenery is so beautiful, and the weather is great (no humidity).  After a long illness, Darrel passed away in 1994.

My daughter, Michelle, and her friend introduced me to Chris Sunderland in 1997.  We were married in 1999.  We built a new home in Riverton, Utah, a city about 10 miles southwest of Salt Lake City.  This is a rural area with horse property.  Chris is building a HO Scale Model Railroad layout in half of our basement.  I still love doing crafts and art work whenever possible.  We keep busy with our hobbies.  We have 6 grandchildren and enjoy being with family whenever we can.

Chris received a college degree, with an emphasis in electronics, from Salt Lake Community College.  He is a technician for the FAA (Federal Aviation Association).  I work as a Support System Analyst Supervisor at Companion Technologies, a medical software vendor.  I have been with the company for 20 years.
