Marilyn (Erickson) Skipper - March 15,
2003
I
graduated from MU in August 1966. I began teaching in Raytown, Missouri
and then got married. I finished my 30-year teaching career (second
and third grad) at Russell Boulevard School in Columbia. In 1991,
I was selected as the Columbia Community Teachers Elementary Educator of
the Year. I served as Music Director at Hartsburg Baptist Church
and Grandview Baptist Church (both near Columbia) along with teaching.
After my retirement in 1996, I became state president of Delta Kappa Gamma, an international group of women educators. I now serve as International Finance Chairman of this group. Currently, I am state president of Alpha Delta Kappa, another international sorority of women educators. I also serve as Music Director at Hartsburg Baptist Church again. I am also Region 4 Vice President in Missouri Retired Teachers Association.
Traveling is my hobby. I have been to Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Caribbean, Canada, Germany, Austria, Middle East, Egypt, as well as much of the United States. I enjoy piecing and hand quilting quilts as well as cross-stitch.
After 31 years of marriage, I was divorced in 2000. I still live in Columbia and love to travel.
