Jane Murdock - 2003-08-28
I have always been a social
worker and spent a very long time working for the State of Missouri. Got
sober January 21, 1981. Earned my Masters of Social Work at Washington
University, St. Louis, in 1990, moving into community health and family
therapy.
Lived in Kansas City for a couple
of years where I worked at Truman Medical Center and survived a 1993 bout
of breast cancer (one of my Truman MC residents did the mastectomy!).
Moved to Arizona in 1994 and
love the weather -- it's a DRY heat!!! The last 7 years I have been
a hospice social worker, now working with Hospice of the Valley in the
Phoenix area, as part of a team serving terminally ill patients and their
families in their homes. My role is to help with "business things"
and to provide emotional support to help everyone cope as illness progresses
to its natural outcome. This is THE most rewarding work I have ever
done and a marvelous culmination to a social work career.
And I live with Peggy Giron,
licensed massage therapist, with her own spa: A Healing Heart Massage
and Spa Treatments, or AHH SPA. Family and friends shared our Commitment
Ceremony was April 5, 1997, at Denver's Metropolitan Community Church.
We are each doing work we love and feel very fortunate and blessed for
our lives today.
