Buddy Holly's plane took
off from this airport about 1:00 AM on February 3, 1959.
This marker is placed at
the crash site of their plane.
Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens,
J. P. Richardson & their pilot, Roger Peterson died in that crash.
In the afternoon of February
3, 2001, we walked a mile in snow and below zero temperature
to see this marker at the
crash site.

If this is of interest to you, consider going to
Clear Lake, Iowa to check out this great weekend. We plan to make
another trip to Clear Lake if the performers suit our liking.
Each
year we check the line up for the coming year's show.
