It was an evening filled with music, dancing and smiling faces as seniors from two generations came together April 26 to kick up their heels at Hickman High School. The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program - RSVP - and the Hickman senior class held their annual Seniors for Seniors Prom, a volunteer recognition event that has been a favorite of both the young and not-so-young for several years.

RSVP staff and Hickman students greeted volunteers at the door to the Commons with carnation corsages, then volunteers took their seats at pretty tables to enjoy a lasagna dinner and garden-themed appreciation gifts to thank them for their services over the past year. A lucky volunteer at each table went home with a pot full of spring flowers, and 12 volunteers won "Prom Memories" CDs courtesy of DJ Charley "Mr. Kewpie" Blackmore. Advisory Council members Leo Modaff, Owen Miller, Leigh Nutter and Mary Laffey happily served their guests. RSVP and its sponsoring agency, the Boone County Council on Aging, were represented by Project Director Sarah Justice, Becky Teacutter, Lois Shelton and Andrea Kolb.
After doing their homework studying the waltz, fox trot, jitterbug and/or the electric slide, the twist and hokeypokey, dancers took to the floor — a few hardy souls seldom leaving it. Hickman music students performed selected scenes from their recent musical, "Suessical," a special treat and much appreciated by those who weren’t able to dance.
